Heide G. Castleman

BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in the Black Forest of southwestern Germany, my interest in photography was fostered by my father when I was an early teenager; he taught me the rudiments of photography. I later studied art in Pietrasanta, Italy; in California; Colorado; at the Pennsylvania State University and also at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C.

In earlier years, I was drawn to patterns and textures, photo collages as well as travel documentary. More recently I have developed a passion for fine art photography - images with a mood, fugitive effects of weather, touch of spirituality, and poetic landscapes.

I have had numerous solo and juried exhibitions; various photo essays in magazines; cover photos in German Life magazine; photographs purchased by the D.C.Commission on the Arts for display in government buildings (as part of the D.C. Commission’s Art Bank, and to be archived).Many of my photographs are also in private collections.
