Homage to Hokusai’s
‘The Great Wave Off Kanagawa’

With my photograph Homage to Hokusai’s ‘The Great Wave Off Kanagawa’ I want to convey through the low horizon, big open sky and vibrant colors the uplifting feeling of freedom and joy that came over me as I experienced this scene in the Haute-Savoie region of France. 

When the rain stopped after a gloomy period of foggy weather and heavy downpours, I was rewarded with exceptionally beautiful cloud formations and felt that this one is reminiscent of Hokusai’s most famous woodblock print The Great Wave.
